Building Hope, Changing Lives

As an independent, 501(c) (3) non-profit institution, Aspire Health Alliance relies on the generosity of our donors to help sustain us in our work to improve the lives of children born with developmental disabilities, and children, teens, and adults living with mental illness.

A gift to Aspire Health Alliance will provide critical funding for ongoing operations of our early intervention and education programs; outpatient clinics; emergency, crisis, and in-patient services; outreach programs, training initiatives and more.

Tribute Gifts

Gifts in honor or memory of a loved one offer much-need and appreciated support to Aspire Health Alliance while recognizing a special person in your life. When a tribute gift is made, a notification is sent to the individual being honored or the family of the loved one remembered. (When making a tribute gift online, please include relevant names and addresses in the “Additional Information” box.)

Basic Needs Fund

In March of 2017, friends, family, colleagues, and business partners of retiring Aspire Health Alliance President and CEO Harry Shulman gathered for a Bon Voyage party that raised $100,000 for the establishment of the Basic Needs Fund. Created at Harry’s request and in his honor, the fund assists clients whose lack of food, clothing, shelter, and other essentials makes it nearly impossible to focus on treatment. Gifts from the Basic Needs Fund are requested by clinicians on behalf of clients who have no resources for support and no other place to turn.

If you are interested in learning more about any of these funds, please contact Janice Sullivan, Executive Director Business and Community Relations at 617-378-1049 or JaSulliv@ssmh.org.

Donations can be made online, or by mail or phone at the number and address above.

Linburn Fund

“To serve and sustain those with modest means and help them become productive is my hope with this gift.”  Dr. Geoffrey Linburn, April 30, 2015

The Linburn Fund was established in 2015 with a gift of $50,000 from Dr. Geoffrey Linburn. A long-time psychiatrist at Aspire Health Alliance, Dr. Linburn retired years ago and through his generosity, continues to make an enormous impact on the lives of the children, teens, and adults we serve.

In keeping with the vision of Dr. Linburn, the fund is designated to support activities, education, and training that contribute to treatment and service plans, improve lives, and foster appreciation for the opportunity to make a positive difference in another person’s life or the community. In short, Dr. Linburn believes in the pay-it-forward philosophy, and his wish is for clients who receive assistance from the fund to reciprocate by helping someone else in need.

Since its creation, the fund has positioned many clients to do just that by enabling them to reach goals that would not be possible without financial help.  For one 22-year-old client who has never missed a day of work at her full-time, minimum wage job, a gift from the Linburn Fund helped her purchase a reliable used car so that she can attend evening college classes and work toward her goal of becoming a therapist, dedicated to improving the lives of others.

Grants through the Linburn Fund are distributed through an application and committee review process in which Aspire Health Alliance’s clinicians request assistance on behalf of their clients. Within the application, clinicians clearly outline how the gifts will make a positive and measurable difference in their clients’ lives and how they will empower their clients to reciprocate.
