“Step One is a first step in turning fear into hope; confusion into confidence.  Early Intervention is not simply a program-it’s a philosophy of family centered care.  It’s a program where professionals listen to what families need and affirm their choices. – Step One Family

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is an innovative and evidence-based program for individuals who have experienced traumatic events in their lives and are having difficulty dealing with ensuing behaviors.

The DBT program teaches skills that help to prevent impulsive behaviors that may result in self-harm, ineffective communication with family and friends, and less satisfying interactions in the community.

The skills of mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance taught in DBT are designed to prevent psychiatric hospitalization and frequent utilization of psychiatric emergency care services.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy for adolescents (ages 13-18) is offered at our Marshfield and Quincy locations, with a parent or guardian in attendance during Group Skills.

For more information about Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, contact Lawrence Kahn at 781.834.7433 or call our intake department at 617-847-1914.
